Trippin' down memory lane.....

Many years ago, my older brother mowed lawns after school & on weekends for spending money. He was probably 12 yrs old when he started. Well, with that extra money, he used to buy all sorts of GOOD STUFF...Hostess cupcakes; candybars; donuts, etc. He thought no one knew, however, my sister & I were pretty good detectives (actually, we were just downright nosey!) We'd hide in the bushes at the back of the house when our brother came home with his "loot". We'd see him hiding it all over the garage. Once he vacated the garage, my sister & I would go help ourselves to the sweets. It was GREAT! He finally figured out that his stash was disappearing....and of course, he knew who to blame. Problem was....he couldn't rat us out to mom & dad without giving himself away, too. HA!!! Our parents would not have approved of all the sugar we were ingesting, and they certainly would not have approved brother spending his hard-earned money in such a way. Brother finally got smart I guess & only bought what he could eat, himself, on his way home. Sister and I were sure disappointed when the "free lunch" ended!! Brother continued to mow lawns all the way through high school. I think he would've quit much sooner, but Dad had other plans. Brother swore that when he was grown & got his own place, there would be NO GRASS in his yard. He was gonna have CONCRETE and paint it green. He never wanted to mow another lawn, EVER. Well, I don't think he ever actually went that far, but I do remember his buying a condo....where the "association" provided all the lawn maintenance. Now that he owns a beautiful home in Tennessee, he has wonderful lush green grass...even paid extra to have the lawn re-sod....But NOW, he pays someone else to mow the lawn!
