I feel my last employment was terminated unjustly. I filed an appeal when the employer denied my claim. I've just learned that the Appeals Tribunal won't even grant an "interview", let alone a determination, for at least another 6 - 8 weeks!
That being said....It's time for me to rethink my earlier stand on FRESH EGGS.
Fertile or NOT, I may have to resort to eating them in order to survive until my next job presents itself!
Some changes require a brand new mind set, so I've decided to rethink the entire situation. Even if the eggs are fertile....if I collect them and REFRIGERATE them before a recognizable embryo can form, I'm ahead of the game, right?? I'll just have to remember to crack them open into a bowl, rather than directly into my skillet! I once heard that eggs are nothing more than aborted baby chickens....and I've eaten eggs all my life, so chances are pretty good that at some point in time...I probably ate a fertile egg or two... so... NEW MIND SET, here I come!!
When I checked the chicken coop today, I found NINE eggs!! That's the most in one day, so far. Next problem was how to collect them & get 'em back to the house intact? Luckily, I found a small box in the barn that sufficed...this time. Having initially acquired my chickens for PETS, and not egg production, it never crossed my mind that I would need a means to safely collect eggs.
Well, once I come to a decision, I follow it through wholeheartedly. Being unemployed (and broke!) I cannot afford to purchase an actual egg basket for collection. HOWEVER....I'm a lover of shopping bags. You know, the kind with the little handles at the top to make them easy to carry? I have several that I have collected over the years & decided one of those would work just fine for collecting eggs. The next very important decision was just which bag to choose. I had several bags from Victoria's Secret....I actually made myself laugh at the thought....Victoria would never know MY secret....WHICH EGGS ARE HIDING BABY CHICKS?? I finally decided against any of those. They were too pink & "fru-fru" looking for my purposes (even without the baby pink tissue paper!)
Next, there was a bag from Hallmark.....remembering their slogan of "when you care enough to send the very best", this bag, too, was voted down. I finally settled on a small, "just the right size" bag from Coyote Ugly Saloon. This, I determined, was the perfect egg-collecting bag. It was plain brown in color...had the necessary carry handles at the top...and I thought that "Coyote" was very much in keeping with the current surroundings! I'm sure, given the chance, our local coyotes would very much like to EAT my chickens! It just seemed to fit the bill.
Luckily, I had already amassed a collection of styrofoam egg cartons, so I am now in the EGG BUSINESS, folks!!
Yippee-Ki-Yolk-Ki-Yay!!!
