My "chickie babies" (ok, they're just chickens) have started laying eggs. Well, my Araucanas, anyway, and I know they are not "setters", so they abandon their eggs once laid.
My dilemma: I have four roosters. Chances are highly likely that these eggs will be fertile. I do NOT want to crack a baby chick into my breakfast skillet!! I do not want to incubate these eggs, as I do not have the time, money, or means to become a chicken farmer! My other hens apparently don't want to adopt someone else's eggs. So, what should I do with all these eggs???
So far, I've been gathering them daily (getting about 5 a day so far) and "depositing" them in the dumpster. I feel like a mass murderer. I don't look into the dumpster to see if the eggs broke on impact....I don't want to know if I've "killed" a baby chick. I don't "feed" them to my dog, 'cause I don't want her to become an "egg-suckin' dog" (she's already a "chicken killin' dog"!!)This aspect of pet chickens never crossed my mind when I ordered them! I can't get rid of my roosters because I've become attached to Bart, HotShot, Kellogg, and Buddy. (BTW, Kellogg is my best crow-er!) He could star in movies. He's a VERY handsome fella! and BIG. Now....back to the egg thing....any suggestions?
